SeniorSolver

Home safety, benefits and local help for older adults.

About SeniorSolver

SeniorSolver helps older adults and their families in New York find local help: programs that pay for home repairs and safety changes, benefits they may be able to get, and services such as rides, meals and care at home.

What SeniorSolver does

It brings together information that county Offices for the Aging, New York State and federal agencies publish in documents and web pages, and presents it county by county in plain language.

  • A directory of local programs and services for each county.
  • A short questionnaire that shows which benefits you may be able to get.
  • A home safety check that lists hazards and the programs that can help fix them.

Who runs it

SeniorSolver is an independent website run by Thomas Lass.

Where it covers

Twelve counties in New York State. Each county has its own directory, built from that county's own documents. Statewide and federal programs are included where they serve the county.

Not a government website

SeniorSolver is not run by, affiliated with or endorsed by any government agency, Office for the Aging or program listed on it. It does not take applications and cannot decide whether you qualify for anything. Only the program itself can do that.

How to read the information

Every program page names the documents its facts come from and the date we last checked them against those documents. Programs change their rules, phone numbers and funding, sometimes without notice. Call the program to confirm before you apply or make plans.

When the questionnaire says a program is a "likely" or "maybe" match, that is an estimate from your answers, not a decision.
